It's that time of year for many of us who reside in the Northern hemisphere where colds, flu, and other viruses increase and become more common among us.
There are many reasons this tends to happen.
The cold season brings us less exposure to sunshine which means that we have less access to endogenous, which means made in our bodies, vitamin D, and melatonin.
Both vital to a healthy and radiant body for hundreds of reasons.
We also spend more time indoors with less exposure to nature and heat our homes with recycled air that dehydrates our bodies and keeps indoor toxins circulating.
As a mother of two boys who always express a cold or flu once a year, I'm determined to share what I've learned from a holistic and whole-body perspective.
I don't say the following because I'm bragging or trying to make others feel guilty about using more conventional methods, I share this because it's a testimony to this...
Hello fellow human,
I like to think back to when humans lived 10's of thousands of years ago.
LISTEN AS I READ THIS MESSAGE TO YOU WHILE YOU DO WHAT YOU DO
Before the agricultural revolution.
Before we began farming crops and domesticating animals.
The human experience was SO different than today.
Humans lived and survived by hunting and gathering their food, there were no grocery or convenience stores to "grab a quick bite".
Contrary to popular belief, these humans did in fact have gardens, they were small, temporary, and always shifted to minimize impact to the soil.
They wore animal skins on their body and under their feet.
The only light they saw at night was light from the stars, moon, and the fire that kept them warm and the animals distant.
They slept on the earth.
Their bodies were grounded and synced with the cycles of Mother Nature.
They walked on average 9 - 25 miles every day.
The sun warmed their...
Hello my dear :)
I'm so honored to have some time and space today to share my latest podcast with you, where my heart speaks about a subject each and every soul yearns to embody.. purpose.
I'll be honest, this subject of living in purpose has haunted me for a long time because I've felt the majority of my life I have NOT lived in purpose.
Somehow it's always alluded me... and although I'm not a purpose expert, I do know what it feels like to not be in alignment with my unique gifts and what it feels like to be in alignment with them.
We are created with a deep yearning to live in our purpose and this desire drives us to grow, evolve, and embody the unique gifts we are meant to create and then give away, ultimately to serve humanity.
Everyone has a divine purpose.
Yet for most of us, we aren't aligned with our purpose and instead we are living out of tune with what we are here to express and become.
In this podcast, we dive into...
Slow down mama,
there is no where to go.
The mind is taking you
far away from your flow.
Come back to the moment
and breathe it in.
Stay right here
and let love come in.
Attune to your heart.
Connect back to earth.
Stand firm on your feet.
Stand in your worth.
For only love is real,
all else is an illusion.
Keeping you separate
And living in confusion.
So close your eyes.
Still your mind.
Focus your attention,
your life, divinely designed.
You are exactly where
you are meant to be.
So when life feels rushed
remember you're already free.
Slow down mama,
there is no where to go.
Move back into this moment
And just let it all go.
I love you,

My alarm goes off at 5:22 am.
[LISTEN TO THE AUDIO VERSION OF THIS EMAIL]
It gives me just enough time for two 8 minute snoozes, where I slowly wake up to the dark morning.
I need this time to prepare to wake up.
At 5:38 am I get out of bed, I open the doors to let the cool morning air in, I go to the bathroom, put on my warm robe, grab my headphones, and light a candle.
I love the way the candle lights up the room.
I find one of my favorite meditations or meditative music and I settle on my bed with a straight back supported by my soft headboard and extend my legs.
I feel my body.
"Good morning, body." I say to myself.
I check into the universe that carries me everyday.
It's the first thing I do.
I notice any tension, tightness, and breathe deeply into the nook and crannies that store all my shit.
I take somewhere between 8-10 deep deep breaths before I settle in.
I always feel my shoulders and belly relax. ...

Hello home to 20,500 genes,
When I walked out of my doctor's office in 2007 with 7 prescriptions to address all of my digestive, skin, and anxiety issues, I truly thought that that was my fate.
AUDIO VERSION OF THIS BLOG POST
Every elder in my life was on some kind of prescription or 5 to "fix" some ailment or symptom they were struggling with.
The deep rooted belief that there was a "pill for every ill", ran deep in my family, and still does.
I deeply believed that this was just how it was and that I would be on prescriptions for the rest of my life.
I mean every older person I knew all had one or many kinds of health issues.
Obesity, diabetes, depression, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, etc., etc., etc.
In my reality it was normal to be unhealthy and on prescriptions.
Shortly after that day and the devastating story that I believed that I too would be on some sort of pill for the rest of my life, something...
"Eat your greens!"
The phase and every parent tells their child at meal time at some point in their lives, if not hundreds of times.
Isn't that what every parent wants, is their child to eat their greens?
Heck, just to eat their vegetables!
Well the number one tip I give mamas if they want their children to eat their vegetables is... MAMA YOU EAT YOUR VEGETABLES FIRST!
Kids don't do what you say, they do what you do and over time as they watch you take good care of your body, mind, and soul then that will become their home and center point for the rest of their lives.
Let's talk a little science.
Well a 2018 report in the Journal Neurology found that a diet containing approximately one serving of green leafy vegetables per day is associated with slower age-related cognitive decline.
The study focused on the consumption of green leafy vegetables like spinach, kale, collards, and lettuce which have been shown in previous studies to...
This is seriously such a divine treat and what's awesome is it's packed with nutrients.
I love sweets, so my strategy isn't to deny myself but to create desserts that are not only satisfying and delicious but nourishing as well.
The beautiful thing about this recipe is the whole family will love it!!
Chia seeds are:
All of the above help lower inflammation and give the body the building blocks it needs to do what it is supposed to do, keep you alive and healthy!
What's even better is when you soak chia seeds they become gelatinous and can even help prevent dehydration. Soaking them also helps rid their digestive inhibitors (all seeds have these). So basically they are better for your digestive system and are SO good for helping regulate bowel movements.
This recipe also has tons of healthy fats and magnesium, from the cacao! You...
Sometimes there is nothing like a warm, nourishing and yummy bowl of oatmeal in the morning.
When I was young, I'd eat those oatmeal packets where you pour them into a bowl and mix with water, then pop it into the microwave.
I used to LOVE that sweet and salty , yet upon my awakening, I wouldn't touch those packets with a 10-ft pole!
I still love oatmeal and have grown to love making every batch with love and intention.
For some reason, I prefer steel cut oats over regular rolled oats.
My favorite brand, is the Organic Sprouted Steel Cut Oats from One Degree. Photo below of it below:
The trick is to make oats more digestible and kinder to our bodies, is soaking them for 8-12 hours before cooking them.
Sprouted oats will always be easier to digest and the first step will always be so SOAK YOUR OATS the night before!
To do so...
