The most important thing we can do as mothers and humans is open up to a new way of viewing what we call "sickness" in the body.
Read this blog post for a deeper understanding of the one thing that can help us heal most of all.

Mother Nature-infused plants, herbs, and homeopathic medicines to assist your body as it upgrades.
Cold Calm by Boiron -
If one of us has cold symptoms, this homeopathic medicine is my go-to for cold symptoms! It's super safe and I recommend that you take or give it IMMEDIATELY when symptoms arise. The sooner the better as it can cut your sickness by days!
Oscillococcinum by Boiron -
This is also a homeopathic medicine that is created for flu symptoms! Same as above, take immediately when symptoms arise as it works best when taken near the onset of symptoms.
I'm a huge fan of Boiron and they have created many homeopathic medicines to support us in our times of upgrades.
You can see their whole list of homeopathic medicines such as support for:
- Allergies
- Heartburn Relief
- Gas Relief
- Diarrhea & Vomiting Relief
- First Aid creams
- Wart removals
- Pain Relief
- Homeopathic Options for kids!
Elderberry Syrup
This plant has been cultivated and used dating back to Ancient Egypt. Its powerful immune-assisting properties have been shown to reduce cold and flu symptoms by up to 2 days.
The powerful flavonoids in these berries bind to viruses and help ease the most uncomfortable of symptoms. You can easily buy elderberry syrup, but beware of additives, preservatives, and a shit ton of sugar always added to this magical elixir.
Elderberry is used for when symptoms manifest and when the body is feeling good to keep the immune system supported.
It also can be utilized to help prevent sickness by taking 1-2 teaspoons per day during cold and flu seasons.

Echinacea -
Another powerful herb, echinacea has been used for more than 400 years as a medicine that provides significant therapeutic value.
This incredible plant can:
- Reduce the chances of catching a common cold by 58%
- Reduces the duration of a common cold by almost 1.5 days!
- Fight viral respiratory infections, including the flu (Study)
It's the number one ingredient in one of my favorite supplements Immunitone Plus, by Designs for Health. (See supplement list below)

Essential Oils that support our immune system:
Oregano Oil
Oregano oil is a powerful and plant-derived essential oil that rivals conventional antibiotics. It's antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal.
Personally I will take this internally if I have any major respiratory symptoms by adding 2 drops into water and drink straight away, or I will put 2 drops into an empty capsule and fill the rest up with olive oil.
I do not give my kids oregano internally, instead I dilute 2 drops of oregano oil with 4-6 drops of a carrier oil, like this sweet almond oil (excellent for nourishing the skin too!) or jojoba oil, and rub it onto the soles of their feet. Then put socks on and keep them on for 20 minutes minimum.
The antioxidants are absorbed into their skin and utilized by their lymphatic system to support their body in healing.
You can learn more about the magic of oregano oil here for other uses it can be used and applied for.
Be sure to buy oregano oil from a trusted source. I like Young Living and Plant Therapy.

Clove Oil
Another powerhouse essential oil to have in your Mother Nature-infused medicine cabinet is clove oil!
Clove oil is rich in antioxidants. It's known for it's high content of eugenol which reduces oxidative stress.
It has other bioactive compounds that help support the immune system.
Another major benefit is how it can protect the stomach and digestive system by increasing gastric mucus which protects the stomach lining.
It's known to help reduce sore throats, cold and cough symptoms, and digestive issues.
Use clove oil just as you would oregano oil, as described above.
Below we discuss how to use whole cloves in tea and elixirs.
Essentail oils can be diffused, put into your warm bath, or mix 1-2 drops with a carrier oil and apply mixture to soles of feet.
Oregano and clove oil are known as "hot" oils and can burn the skin, so use with caution.

Colloidal Silver
This super sonic solution of water which contains nano-sized and suspended silver.
Silver has been utilized for thousands of years to help prevent microbial infections.
Silver was the most important antimicrobial agent available before the introduction of antibiotics. (Source)
Colloidal silber is what I consider the "big guns" when it comes to overcoming infections.
I am super cautious to use it internally, but if I'm called to do so, I treat it JUST LIKE AN ANTIBIOTIC. I take consistently for 10 days.
During and after that period, I primarily focus on gut health.
It can also be used on wounds and warts.
Commonly used for pink eye and ear infections.
It can also be added to your saline rinses for any sinus issues or allergies.
It is also known to hold up against viral strains of pneumonia too!
When sourcing be sure to source TRUE COLLOIDAL SILVER!
DO NOT source ionic silver or silver protein.
You can see my immune system supplement protocol which has the brand I use and trust.
Mother Nature-infused foods and beverages that support our immune system
Bone Broth
Bone broth is an absolute must-have as it provides the body minerals and vitamins it needs to heal in a form that is ready to be absorbed.
If you want to nerd out about and learn more about it's magic, check out this article by The Weston Price Foundation.
Click here for my homemade bone broth recipe and video walking you though making this ancient and healing elixir.
Bone broth is used in each of the following immune supporting recipes.

Turmeric
Many are confused to why turmeric's magical compound, curcumin, works so well, but is not absorbed by the body.
How can this be?
In Dr. William Davis' book, Super Gut, he explains that we actually do not want to absorb this compound and in fact we want it to stay within the GI tract as it demonstrates it's potent effects in the intestines by strengthening the intestinal barrier, maintaining the integrity of the mucus lining, decreasing leaky gut, and increasing production of peptides with antimicrobial properties.
Ultimately research shows that curcumin can provide relief from inflammation caused from bacterial and fungal overgrowth.
I'm a huge fan of this turmeric spice, which is tested for common contaminants like lead and bacteria found in many ground turmeric.
I regularly keep fresh turmeric root on hand to add in to my teas, soups, broth, and also add in fresh pressed juices.
Fresh turmeric root can be found in many health-focused grocery stores.

Ginger
I ALWAYS have ginger on hand.
It is a super star when it comes to supporting our bodies as it is packed full of anti-inflammatory properties which soothe the stomach, enhance our immune system, protect the brain, ease pain, and support our digestive system.
It is used to help treat:
- Nausea
- Morning sickness
- Bacterial Infections
- Ease inflammation
- Fungal Infections
- Stomach Ulcers
- Menstrual Pain
It also has been sown to help inhibit cancer growth, help regulate blood sugar, and fight obesity.
I use it in teas (see tea recipe below), soups, stews, and add it to fresh pressed juices.

Raw Garlic
Garlic is one of the most powerful food medicines on the planet!
It contains alliin and allicin, which are both sulfur compounds that have been well researched and proven to prevent chronic and deadly diseases.
It is well known in it's treatment and prevention of colds and infections as the compound, allicin, is highly effective at killing countless microorganisms responsible for some of the most common and rarest infections.
It has also been shown to prevent colds as well as other infections. (Study)
I add raw garlic to any and almost every savory dish I eat.
Especially in these recipes:
In all of my Homemade Salad Dressings
If you have a fresh pressed juicer, garlic is great to juice with fresh ginger, turmeric green apple, and lemon. I also add a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar (see below) for extra immune supporting capabilities.

Apple Cider Vinegar (with the mother)
I'll be honest, I don't like this sour and astringent elixir, but it holds some MAJOR immune supporting properties so I use it when necessary.
Apple Cider Vinegar, also known as ACV, is used from soothing sunburns to improving gut and skin health.
This fermented beverage is highly detoxifying for the liver, blood, and supports our trash system, the lymphatic system by supporting immunity.
I simply add 2 tbsp. with 4 ounces of filtered water and drink it straight down the hatch!
It's best to drink it at least 15-20 minutes before a meal, as it can stimulate digestive enzymes and help with digestive issues.
I also use it in all of my homemade salad dressings, well except in my buttermilk sour cream ranch dressing!
Learn more about the health benefits of apple cider vinegar (ACV) here!

Herbal and Spiced Teas
Consistently drinking warm liquids containing powerful plant medicines is a game changer when the body needs our support.
Lemon, raw honey, cinnamon is a great mixture to prevent mucus buildup and helps keep us hydrated.
Adding ginger and turmeric can also help ease inflammation and support our guts as our body heals itself.
This Immune Supporting Tea Recipe is my go-to herbal tea recipe any time our bodies need support!
Something we can do daily to support our guts and immune systems is drink green tea combined with cloves and inulin.
In his book, Super Gut, Dr. William Davis talks about this magic combination as a powerhouse recipe that has "several intestinal health advantages".
The combination of eugenol oil from cloves and the catechins from green tea help rebuild, repair, and maintain a healthy gut lining.
Check out the recipe for his Clove and Green Tea here. I drink this daily to support my gut and immune system!
It's SO YUMMY!
Other herbs and spices that I love to also use in teas to support upgrades are:
All the above support digestive health and, in my opinion, are so yummy!

Manuka Honey
This unique type of honey is only produced in New Zealand by bees that pollinate the honey bush. It is considered to be one of the most beneficial forms of honey in the world!
Studies show that manuka honey can benefit our bodies by:
- Supporting and balancing digestive health.
- Promotes skin health
- Helps treat infections with its antibacterial effects.
- Helps treats burns, wounds and ulcers
- Reduces sore throats and seasonal allergies.
All Manuka Honey options come with a Unique Manuka Factor (UMF), a grading system, that helps us identify and measure the antibacterial strength.
Genuine UMF Manuka honey has these four things:
- A UMF trademark clearly labeled on the front of the container.
- Be from a New Zealand UMF-licensed company and labeled in New Zealand.
- The UMF company’s name and license number on the label.
- A UMF rating number of 5–16+. If it is labeled without the UMF or without a number, then it is not the genuine article.
Here is an explanation of what Manuka honey UMF you should use:
- 0–4 — Non-therapeutic
- 4–9 — Maintenance level with general honey health benefits
- 10–14 — Supports natural healing and bacterial balance
- 15+ — Superior levels of phenols that are highly therapeutic but shouldn’t exceed taking one tablespoon at a time

Plenty of Filtered Mineral-Rich Water and Beverages
Whenever the body is healing and detoxifying it requires a great amount of hydration to help the body carry out whatever it is ridding itself of.
The minimum amount of water our body requires is 1/2 the amount of our weight in ounces every day.
For example, if one weighs 150 pounds, then they will need 75 ounces in water daily. This is the bare minimum.
When our body's feel compromised amp up your water intake as much as you possibly can!
I always infuse our water with a high quality sea salt, like Celtic Salt. Simply sprinkled in and stirred to offer the body the electrolytes it needs to do all the things it is meant to do.
I'll also add it to my kids water bottles and their first morning glass of water.
Some other liquids that support and hydrates our bodies are:
- Coconut water (be sure to buy options with NO ADDED SUGAR!)
- Herbal and Spiced Teas (See above)
- Bone Broth
- Fresh-pressed juices (Check out my Top Tips for Healthy Juicing)
Supplements to Support The Immune System
Supplements
Food is always my focus when it comes to nourishing the body, however, certain supplements can super charge our health and our immune system.
The following supplements are the ones I use and implement each time a body is upgrading in my home.
The first and very first supplement that we use daily is...
- Upgraded Magnesium - Vital for each and every cell and depleted in our soils, this is the BEST magnesium I have ever found and is the only one I use.
It's created from nano-particles so that it does not require digestion to be absorbed. You can get it in liquid or capsule form. - Probiotics - Make sure to source high quality probiotics that can withstand stomach acid and make it into the small intestine. I love and use Klaire Labs, Ther-Biotic Complete Probiotic. The technology they use helps probiotics survive stomach acid and make it into the intestines where they belong. (See link below to my Immune System Support Protocol)
- Vitamin D - best to get it from the sun and foods with high amounts, yet supplementation may be required for some people. I prefer vitamin D supplements that include Vitamin K for better absorption.
- Vitamin C - provides dozens of benefits to our body specifically supporting vibrant immune health! I prefer Liposomal Vitamin C as it is more bioavailable and is protected in the stomach. Check out my Immune Support Protocol below.
- Upgraded Zinc - Zinc is absolutely necessary for our immune system to function properly. Yet the majority of zinc supplements cannot be absorbed! Upgraded Zinc has a 99.99% absorption rate! It's the only one I use.
- Omega 3's - Each immune cell requires DHA and EPA to function correctly. Our brain does too! This is a supplement great for DAILY use!
- Immunitone Plus by Designs for Health is a synergistic formula that has herbs, mushroom extracts, and other botanicals like echinacea and elderberry!
